On Thursday, Newton running back Kenyon Forest announced on Twitter that he underwent surgery that will force him to miss the rest of the 2021 season.

The senior and team captain was a Sports in Kansas preseason top 25 running back. He finishes with 95 yards rushing through two games, and was the only Railers player other than quarterback Colby Gomez to record a carry.
“I’m heart broken that my senior year was taken away from me,” Forest wrote. “But I can’t wait to be out there on Friday night supporting!”
The news reaches the public a day ahead of the Newton’s matchup with undefeated Maize. Sophomore James Hulse remains as the only listed running back on the roster. It would be his first varsity start.
