Esch KSHSFB Index | Week 1 results and Week 2 projections for all 4A/5A/6A teams
With Week 1 of the Kansas high school football season in the books, the Esch Index predicted the winner in 29 games correctly and 14 incorrectly — good for a percentage of 67.4. Here are a few notes regarding the attached results below:
KC Washington was projected to defeat KC Sumner Academy, 24-23, as opposed to 24-23 in favor of KC Sumner Academy which was listed in the Week 1 projections post. Therefore, it’s counted as a miss for the index.
Some of the Index’s most accurate predictions included Chanute 38, Augusta 12 (38-14), Mill Valley 44, Olathe Northwest 0 (40-0), Atchison 32, Ottawa 24 (31-24), and Hays 32, Junction City 23 (33-21).
The Index predicted three more Week 1 games correctly this season than it did last season.
Week 2 Projections
Quick Facts:
Four teams are projected to score zero points: Wichita North (vs. Garden City), Independence (vs. Mulvane), Shawnee Mission West (vs. Mill Valley), and KC Harmon (vs. KC Washington).
Three teams are projected to score 60 or more points: Derby (60 vs. Salina South), Wichita Northwest (64 vs. Wichita Heights), and Topeka Seaman (70 vs. KC Turner).
Home teams are projected to win 24 of the 43 eligible games.
NOTE: An ‘eligible game’ is one in which a 4A, 5A, or 6A team is playing another 4A, 5A, or 6A team. Games against a 1A, 2A, 3A, or out-of-state opponent are listed in the system as a bye week for that 4A, 5A, or 6A team.
